Denver, Colo – Nov 20, 2014 – First Western Trust is pleased to announce its support of The Women’s Foundation of Colorado (WFCO) with a $10,000 matching gift on Colorado Gives Day.

“The Women’s Foundation of Colorado is an exceptional leader in making a difference in the lives women and girls in our state,” said Scott Wylie, CEO of First Western Trust. “One of our core philanthropic focuses at First Western is supporting women and girls, so we are proud to grow this local partnership.”

Colorado Gives Day is an annual statewide movement to celebrate and increase philanthropy in Colorado through online giving, raising upwards of $15 million in one day to support local nonprofits.  On December 9, 2014, the fifth annual Colorado Gives Day, First Western Trust will match every donation made to The Women’s Foundation of Colorado through the ColoradoGives.org, up to $10,000.

In the past year, First Western Trust underwent a materiality process to determine core areas of focus for the company’s philanthropic efforts. After surveying and mapping the needs and interests of the community, associates, shareholders and clients, the organization identified women and girls as one of the three issues it will support.

“There are a number of studies that demonstrate when you invest in women and girls you achieve a multiplier effect, with those women reinvesting in the communities around them,” explained Alexis Owen, director of philanthropic services. “At First Western, we recognize that investing in this important demographic makes good sense, both for our bottom line and our community.”

“As a business person, I’ve seen first-hand that when you have strong representation from both women and men in leadership, your company thrives,” added Scott. “First Western is proud of the visible leadership role women play in our organization, and proud to invest in the women and girls of this community.”
