Boulder Shelter for the Homeless

One of our Boulder team’s favorite community events is our monthly meal service at the Boulder Shelter for the Homeless during the winter sheltering months. The team has been volunteering with the Boulder Shelter for more than five years and regularly invites clients and friends in the community to be part of the volunteer experience.

During the months of October through April, Colorado experiences some of its coldest temperatures, and the Boulder Shelter is committed to providing safe overnight shelter, food, and support services to their clients.

Through our monthly volunteer commitment, we invite six First Western associates, clients, and friends to join us for an evening of meal service at the Shelter, preparing and serving dinner to the Shelter’s clients.

“We have always enjoyed our volunteer events with the Boulder Shelter,” said Matt Gorr, chairman of First Western Trust, Boulder. “It is a great opportunity for us to serve our community members and also get our clients involved in our outreach efforts.”

In addition to winter sheltering, the Boulder Shelter for the Homeless has a host of services that they provide in an effort to deliver safe shelter, food, support services, and an avenue to self-sufficiency for homeless adults in the community. They do so through transition programs and housing efforts and by providing morning meals and basic necessities throughout the year.

While a major part of our volunteer efforts center on winter sheltering, the Boulder team has also supported the organization through its FW Connects Day projects. This year, the team put together more than 100 toiletry bags for women in the Shelter.

The Boulder team has largely filled up their volunteer events through April, but there is a possibility to be put on a wait list if you wish to participate. If you are interested in learning more, feel free to reach out to Nichole Lopez at Nichole.Lopez@myfw.com for more information.
