Do's

  • Ask your real estate agent about the neighborhood, including schools, shopping, HOAs, and property taxes
  • Make sure any issues your home inspector identifies are corrected by the seller before you buy
  • Give yourself time to get to the bank before your mortgage loan closing (and get your closing funds in a bank wire or certified check)
  • Bring a valid photo ID with you to closing

Don'ts

  • Let anyone talk you into purchasing a home outside of your budget
  • Incur new debt during the mortgage process
  • Increase existing debt
  • Change jobs – that makes income verification tricky
  • Use the funds you have saved for your down payment

Our Client Story

For example, 36 hours before we were about to complete a mortgage loan closing for one of our clients, we found out that the family had collateralized their house. At most companies, the closing would have been pushed back immediately, since it would typically take days (if not weeks) to get the loan processed and approved with these major changes.

But, we knew how important it as to the family to get the loan closed on time, so despite this set-back, our mortgage lenders, processors, and closers rolled up their sleeves and got to work. In the same day, we managed to get the loan resubmitted, reprocessed, and reapproved, and helped the family make their closing on time.
